An earlier use of black and white bands was on the Hawker Typhoon and early production Hawker Tempest Mark Vs. The aircraft had a similar outline when seen from above and below to the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 and the bands were added to aid identification in combat. The order was promulgated on 5 December 1942. This was done for similar reasons as the «invasion stripes» had been used in Operation Overlord ten months earlier over Normandy. Invasion stripes were re-introduced on British and Australian Fleet Air Arm aircraft operating during the Korean War in 1950.

Easy White Wine Sauce for Chicken The delicious flavor of this dish is largely derived from the white wine cream sauce that the chicken is essentially bathed in. The poached chicken in white wine sauce absorbs all the scrumptious flavor from the creamy white wine sauce and the ingredients in that sauce. Thank you so much for coming back to leave a comment! I’ve made this recipe several times and it’s wonderful! I am hoping to prepare it in advance, as a few family members will be joining us. I saw from a previous comment you said this can be done, but I’m just worried the cream will separate or the chicken will be too soft. I would cook the chicken as instructed, sans cream. Then cover and refrigerate until you’re ready to re-heat.

I’ve never ever felt that it was too much cream and I’ve never heard that comment from anyone. The only thing I can think of is that maybe your liquid in the pot reduced too much before you added cream, which is why it maybe felt too creamy. In any case, add as you please! I have made it multiple times and it has always been such a hit. I add mushrooms and use a beurre mainé as my method for thickening the sauce up. I also add some chicken stock as well, to intensify the chicken flavoring.

I love so many of these recipes! I want to serve it but a few guests much prefer white meat. The bone does help with flavor, but it’s not the end of the world if you can’t find chicken breast with bone in. I tried this tonight, it was beautiful.
